[MLS SPOTLIGHT] So Eric Avila isn't moving to Guadalajara after all. The 25-year-old midfielder, who hasn't played with Chivas USA since June 1, is returning to the MLS club that kicks off a three-game road trip Thursday at FC Dallas.

Avila trained with Chivas de Guadalajara during its preseason camp in Southern California, played with the Mexican club in a scrimmage against Chivas, then headed to Guadalajara for more preseason training.

Chivas USA sporting presidentDennis te Kloese said almost three weeks ago that it was "pretty likely' Avila and fellow Chivas USA midfielder Giovanni Casillas would leave MLS to join Chivas de Guadalajara.

Casillas, who was playing on loan, indeed returned to Guadalajara.

Reasons for why Avila's move did go through were not forthcoming.
