High-scoring action kicks off Finals Week

[DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY] Play began Sunday at the Development Academy's Finals Week in Houston with group play in both the under-17/18 and under-15/16 age groups. The eight games produced 30 goals for an average of 3.75 goals a game. Day 1 featured a Cascadia Cup match won by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency with a 3-1 win over Sounders Academy and a pair of local derby matches that ended in ties.

Duke-bound Brody Huitema scored two goals in the Vancouver win. Marco Bustos added the third goal for the 'Caps. David Olsen had the lone goal for the Sounders.

There were also a pair of local derby matches that ended in ties.

The New York Red Bulls and Albertson Soccer Club played to a 3-3 tie in U-17/18 play, while the Houston Dynamo and Texans SC Houston played to a 0-0 tie.
