Veracruz was ahead 3-1 at home in the closing minutes when its goalkeeper, Edgar Hernandez, gave away a penalty kick that could trim its lead to one. Christian Gimenez stepped up and offered a very weak effort for Cruz Azul that Hernandez saved with his shins, but the keeper’s Veracruz teammates were just getting started.
