Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang enjoyed an outstanding start to his Bundesliga career, hitting a hat trick in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 trouncing of lowly Augsburg in the BVB’s opening game of the season. Aubameyang, a Gabon international, joined Dortmund from Ligue 1 club St. Etienne for a reported $17.3 million last month.

The 24-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 24th-minute with a diving header and slotted home from the left midway through the second half, before completing his hat trick by rounding Augsburg keeper Mohamed Amsif 11 minutes from time following a fantastic Robert Lewandowski pass. Lewandowski completed the rout with an 86th-minute penalty.

"That was a super start for me,” Aubameyang said after the game. "The intensity in the league here is much higher than in France. Our aim is to work hard and see what is possible in this season." Coach Jurgen Klopp added: "I told my players it would be tough and there are not many teams who will win 4-0 here. We scored some great goals and finished off the game." Read the original story...
