Carolina puts home unbeaten streak on line

[NASL PREVIEW: Week 4] One big reason for the success of the Carolina RailHawks this season has been their play at home. They are unbeaten in 11 games at WakeMed Soccer Park with 10 victories -- including Open Cup wins over the La Galaxy and Chivas USA -- and one draw -- ironically in a game the RailHawks needed to win to clinch the NASL spring season title.

Carolina will look to maintain its unbeaten record at home and hold on to its lead at the top of the NASL standings when it hosts Minnesota United FC Saturday.

The last time they played, Minnesota led 2-1 with less than four minutes on the clock when the NASL Golden Boot leader Brian Shriver struck twice to steal a dramatic 3-2 win.

"It's certainly even more challenging going on the road now, not only playing against one of the better teams in the League, but in a place that is tough to play," said United FC coach Manny Lagos.

Carolina's lone tie was a 1-1 draw against the Atlanta Silverbacks on the next-to-last day of the spring season. The RailHawks would have won the title with a tie. Five days later, Atlanta overtook Carolina for the first-half championship.
