After Italian referee Anna De Toni nullified for offside what North Korean
players thought was their late equalizer against China, three North Korean
players assaulted De Toni and her assistants.
Goalkeeper Hye Yong Han kicked and pushed De Toni while her teammates, Son Kyong
Sun and Song Jung Sun, threw plastic water bottles and other objects at
spectators and officials.
China's 1-0 win earned it a spot in the final of the Asian Women's Cup against
host Australia. The three North Korean players have been suspended for their
team's next game and await further punishment from the Asian soccer
confederation (AFC).
