[MLS REWIND: Week 28] Sporting Kansas City regained the lead in the Eastern Conference at least temporarily with a 3-0 win over Columbus, while Western Conference teams Seattle, Colorado, Portland and FC Dallas all won key matches on Saturday night. FC Dallas' 3-1 win over Vancouver kept in within striking distance of the playoff tier and featured a goal by Jair Benitez from 50 yards that he chipped over 'Caps keeper David Ousted.

Goals: 18/7 GP (2.57 avg.)
Video: Weekend Timeline

Despite playing without four players away on national team duty, Sporting KC put away Columbus with three goals in the first 55 minutes for a 3-0 win. Montreal and New York, which began the day tied for first with SKC, play on Sunday.

The big surprise in the Western Conference was the Rapids' 1-0 win at the LA Galaxy on former Galaxy forward Edson Buddle's 98th MLS goal.

A late own goal gave Seattle a 2-1 win for its seventh win in its last eight games. The Sounders are now only two points behind Western Conference leader Real Salt Lake with two games in hand.

Portland, which had won only one of its previous seven games, feasted on Toronto mistakes for a 4-0 win that kept it in top five ahead of FC Dallas, who has taken seven points in its last three games after going 11 games without a win.
