[WASHINGTON: Men] No. 19 Washington lost goalie Spencer Richey for the season as he suffered a broken leg that later required surgery in Tuesday's 0-0 tie at No. 1 Connecticut.

The match pitted two of the nation's top goalies, Richey and UConn's Jamaican star, Andre Blake, but Richey had to leave in the game in the 83rd minute after Canadian Cyle Larin collided hard with him at the top of the box.

Richey remained down for nearly 10 minutes was replaced by Ryan Herman, who will take over as the Huskies' 1-0 keeper.

Richey, who spent time in the U-17 Residency Program, started most of his first three seasons for UW.

He is considered one of the top goalies eligible for the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
