[AMERICANS ABROAD] Two of the hottest Americans in Europe are Sacha Kljestan and Terrence Boyd, neither of whom was called up for the recent World Cup 2014 qualifiers. Kljestan scored for the fourth time in five games for Belgian club Anderlecht in its 5-0 win over Mechelen, while Boyd also had his fourth league goal in five games for Rapid Vienna in its 4-0 win over FC Wacker Innsbruck.

Jozy Altidore thought he had his first goal for Sunderland, but it was called back for a foul by Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna outside the area that denied the Black Cats a late equalizer in a game they eventually lost at home, 3-1. The result left Sunderland in last place in the English Premier League after four games.

Tim Howard picked up his third straight shutout for Everton, which beat Chelsea, 1-0, to pick up its first win after three ties.

Elsewhere in the EPL, Geoff Cameron started for Stoke City in its 0-0 tie with last year's runner-up, Manchester City, and Brad Guzan's Aston Villa fell at home to Newcastle, 2-1.
