[NASL REWIND: Week 7] The Fort Lauderdale Strikers extended their unbeaten streak to six games but missed out on taking over the NASL lead when they were held to a 1-1 tie at FC Edmonton on Sunday.

Defender Lance Laing scored from a free kick to give the Eddies the lead six minutes before the break and end Strikers keeper Richard Sanchez's scoreless streak at 353 minutes. Cuban Yaikel Perez equalized in the 57th minute for the Strikers, who drew even on points with the second-place Carolina RailHawks and Tampa Bay Rowdies, one point behind the New York Cosmos.

The Cosmos beat Minnesota United FC, 1-0, to take over first place as Carolina and Tampa Bay, which went into Saturday tied for first place with Ft. Lauderdale, played to a 2-2 draw.

Sebastian Guenzatti
, who grew up in Queens and recently returned from Uruguay, scored the decisive goal for the Cosmos after 76 minutes on a header off a cross from Hunter Freeman. The game drew 6,081 fans at Shuart Stadium.

"It was a beautiful cross and we got the win," said Guenzatti. "Before the game, we were one point away from the team in first place and we just have to keep winning and hopefully get to the top."

Carolina got a last-minute goal from Austin Da Luz to preserve its unbeaten home record in 2013. The Rowdies trailed on a Ty Shipalane goal for the RailHawks before Evans Frimpong and Jay Needham struck in the space of two minutes for the visiting Rowdies.
