[AMERICANS ABROAD] Puebla came out on top over Tijuana, 2-0, in a match that featured six Americans. DaMarcus Beasley and Michael Orozco were on the winning side for La Franja, which remains four points outside the playoff zone. Joe Corona got a start for his first appearance in six games, Edgar Castillo also started, while teenager Paul Arriola and Herculez Gomez came off the bench for Tijuana. It was Gomez's first Liga MX appearance for Xolos, who are tied for 12th place six points outside the playoff zone with a game in hand.

Saturday ...

Aron Johannsson
continued his hot streak for AZ with a spectacular winner on a looping shot from distance in its 2-1 win over Eredivisie leader PSV on Saturday. The goal was his 10th for AZ in all competitions. Chukwudi Chijindu had the winning goal for Thor in its 2-1 win over IBV on the final day of the Icelandic season. The former Chivas USA forward, who finished with 10 goals in 17 league games, was then sent off in the 90th minute. Former Chicago Fire midfielder Mike Banner had an eventful half-hour appearance for FF Jaro in Finland, coming off the bench to score two goals before getting sent off in its 5-2 loss at Lahti.

-- In England, Brad Guzan's long punt set up the winning goal as Aston Villa stunned Manchester City, 3-2, to move into a tie for eighth place in the Premier League.
