[AMERICANS ABROAD] Strikers Terrence Boyd and Aron Johannsson both started as their teams played to ties in the Europa League on Thursday.

Boyd's Rapid Vienna came back from two goals down to tie Dynamo Kiev, 2-2, in Vienna. The U.S. striker was issued a yellow card in the game.

Johannsson hit the crossbar in AZ's 1-1 tie with PAOK. Substitute Dimitris Salpingidis scored the equalizer in stoppage time to earn the Greek club a share of the points in Alkmaar.

Former U.S. U-20 captain Caleb Stanko suited up for Freiburg for the first time in the German club's 2-0 loss at Sevilla.
