[AMERICANS ABROAD] Aron Johannsson scored two goals (video below) and assisted on the third to lead Dutch club AZ to a 3-1 win over Cambuur in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Johannsson has 12 goals in all competitions and seven league goals to rank third in the Eredivisie. Three of the top four scorers in the Dutch league are Icelandic players: Alfreo Hinnbogason (Heerenveen) with 11 goals, Johannsson with seven and Kolbeinn Sigborsson (Ajax) with six.

Terrence Boyd came off the bench to score the tying goal from the penalty spot for Rapid Vienna in its 2-2 tie with Sturm Graz.

Saturday ...

Alejandro Bedoya
scored his first goal for promoted Nantes to give the Canaries a 1-0 win at Ajaccio. Mexico national team goalie Guillermo Ochoa was unable to get to Filip Djordjevic's cross, allowing Bedoya to score in the 87th minute, six minutes after he came on, for Nantes, which moved into fourth place with the win.

Mix Diskerud was also a late sub for Rosenborg in its 1-0 win at Start in Norway's Tippeligaen. Jonas Svensson's goal in the 84th minute was enough to move Rosenborg back into the lead, three points ahead of Stromsgodset, which plays Sunday at Aalesund.

Tim Howard was in goal as Everton beat Hull City, 2-1, to win its fourth game in the last five outings and move into a tie for fourth place in the English Premier League, pending Saturday night's action. Jozy Altidore was the only other American who played in the Hexagonal finales and was in action on Saturday. He came on as a late sub in Sunderland's 4-0 loss at Swansea City that left it with one point in eight games.

-- Will Packwood, on loan from Birmingham City to League Two (fourth level) Bristol Rovers, was named man of the match in his first game back since breaking his leg last season. Bristol Rovers fell to Wycombe Wanderers, 1-0.

Johannsson's two goals may be the best two I have seen by a USMNT player this year. The marking was soft, but his traps, touches and shots were exquisite.
