Region IV tops ODP girls tournament

[THANKSGIVING INTERREGIONAL] Region IV led all regions with seven wins in competitions across all age groups and two division titles, and Sophia Serafin, from the Region IV '99 team, was the top scorer with five goals at the six-day U.S. Youth Soccer ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional at Spanish River Athletic Park in Boca Raton, Fla.

Other top scorers in the tournament were Region I’s Jenna Bike from the 1998 age group and Region IV’s Theresa Boade from the 1999 age group with four goals apiece.

1996 Girls:
Region II ended the tournament with the best results in the 1996 age group with a 2-0-1 record, finishing up with a 1-0 win over Region I on a second-half goal by Kristelle Yewah.
1997 Girls:
Region IV completed the tournament with a perfect 3-0-0 record, beating Region III, 1-0, in its final game on a Grace Cutler goal.

1998 Girls:
Region I rallied from 2-0 down to beat Region, 4-2, in its final game and conclude the tournament with the best record in their age group. Region I came back with two goals by Jenna Sayers and Francesca Venezia to tie the match by halftime and won on goals by Kennedy Yearby and Amirah Ali.
1999 Girls:
After opening with 2-0 and 7-0 wins, Region IV tied Region III, 2-2, to finish unbeaten atop of standings. It came back from 2-0 down on goals by Theresa Boade and Serafin.
