[JANUARY CAMP] U.S. national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann invited 26 players -- including nine uncapped players -- to Carson, Calif., for the first camp in 2014. The team will assemble Monday at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center before heading to Sao Paulo Jan. 13 for 12 days of training.

All but Norway-based Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg) play in MLS. Just 10 of the players took part in World Cup qualifying for the USA.

The roster includes seven players earning their first callups, three of them -- Luis Gil, Shane O'Neill and DeAndre Yedlin -- part of the 2013 U.S. U-20 World Cup team. MLS champion Sporting Kansas City leads all teams with five players, including national team regulars Matt Besler and Graham Zusi.

Mike Magee, who was voted the 2013 MLS MVP after scoring 21 goals, and goalie Tally Hall are uncapped players who have attended previous national team camps.

“We are all very excited for this camp because, as a team, it will give us our first taste of Brazil,” said Klinsmann in a statement. “This is a very important camp in our preparations for the World Cup. It’s important for the players to continue developing their bond and sense of urgency for the tournament. It’s important for us to see how they do in Brazil, how the new players fit with the group and to make sure everyone is focused on reaching the highest level for next summer.”

The camp will end Feb. 1 with a match against South Korea in Carson at the StubHub Center. More than 15,000 tickets have already been sold for the game.

I see ten probable Brazil bounds here! Hope they don't rest on any 2013 laurels.....and show the young guns in the group the passion and desire expected from them. Good Luck to all!

LOVE the roster & commend JK on the selections! Really wanted to see Magee, Yedlin, Sinovic & Gil given a serious look & happy that JK saw fit to give them an opportunity. Now, they just need to make the most of it...though, outside of Magee, don't really see any of them with a realistic shot at making the WC roster.
