Galaxy, Sporting KC and Quakes to open CCL quarterfinals at home

[DATEBOOK] As lower seeded teams, the three MLS representatives -- LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City and San Jose Earthquakes -- open at home against Mexican teams in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals in March.

QUARTERFINAL Seedings:
1- Toluca
2- Cruz Azul
3- Tijuana
4- Arabe Unido
5- Alajuelense
6- LA Galaxy
7- Sporting Kansas City
8- San Jose Earthquakes

The action will kick off with a Central American showdown on March 10 as Costa Rica’s Alajuelense will host Arabe Unido of Panama.
 
The Earthquakes will host the first leg of its series against Toluca the next day at Buck Shaw Stadium. The first leg of the quarterfinals concludes March 12 with Sporting Park the venue for Sporting Kansas City-Cruz Azul and the StubHub Center is the site of the marquee series pitting the LA Galaxy against Tijuana featuring eight Americans on its first team.

The second legs will be played March 18-20. Play will continue with the semifinals April 1-3 and April 8-10 and finals April 15-17 and April 22-24.
 
The CCL winner will earn a berth to the 2014 Club World Cup in Morocco in December.

Tijuana (MEX) vs. LA Galaxy (USA), 10 pm ET
     
March 19
Toluca (MEX) vs. San Jose Earthquakes, 8 pm ET
Cruz Azul (MEX) vs. Sporting Kansas City, 10 pm ET
   
March 20
Arabe Unido (PAN) vs. Alajuelense (CRC), 10 pm ET
