Energy names Hawkins GM

[USL 2014 COUNTDOWN] Jason Hawkins, who has been active in Oklahoma soccer for more than 20 years, has been named OKC Energy FC’s general manager for its USL PRO launch in 2014.

Hawkins, who was vice president, special projects & Lean manager for First Fidelity Bank for the past 12 years, has been assistant director of coaching for the Oklahoma Soccer Association since 2010. He has been involved in coaching and administration with the Oklahoma Football Club, NOKC United and Royals Football Club.

Englishman Chris Spendlove, who spent the last three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Oklahoma State University, has been named an Energy assistant coach under head coach Jimmy Nielsen. He captained Oklahoma City FC (PDL) during the 2013 season.

USL COMBINE. The 2014 USL PRO Combine, presented by Nike, will be held Jan. 24-26 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. One hundred players, many of them PDL players, have accepted invites to the Combine. A final list will be announced shortly before the start of the event.

Feb. 26: vs. James Madison Univ.
March 1: vs. Univ. of Maryland
March 8: vs. VCU (at City Stadium)
