This is what happens when you don't play the whistle

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] It might be common practice for defenders to signal offside -- but it backfired badly for Atalanta defender Christiano Del Grosso, who may have had the call right but created a goal -- a funny one, at that -- for the opposition by ignoring the "play the whistle" adage.

Napoli's second goal in its 3-1 win, which sent it to the Coppa Italia, quarterfinals, came after after a pass, headed to offside Gonzalo Higuain, bounced off the back of Del Grosso and fell kindly to Lorenzo Insigne to stroke home.

very frustrating when defenders do that. He may have been in an off-side position, but was not called off-side as he had no participation in the play. Defender was an idiot. Coaches should be fired after a few of those plays for not enforcing this in their players.

Ah yes, the famous "Statue of Liberty" defense. Always a classic!
