Guzan earns shutout for Aston Villa

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Brad Guzan did well to hold off Cardiff City as Aston Villa picked up a valuable away point with a 0-0 tie in its bid to stay clear of the English Premier League battle for relegation.

The point moved Villa six points clear of Sunderland in 18th place. The Black Cats, who play at Manchester City on Wednesday, fell into 18th place on Tuesday when West Bromwich managed to hold Chelsea to a 1-1 tie with a late goal from Victor Anichebe.

UPDATE. Oguchi Onyewu will be sidelined three weeks with a calf injury. He had broken into the starting lineup at Sheffield Wednesday, which he joined on a free transfer from QPR, where had signed in the fall on a short-term deal.
