[USL PRO 2014 COUNTDOWN] Expansion club Sacramento Republic FC has signed a pair of forwards, Justin Bruin, who has spent time with four MLS clubs, and 17-year-old Massachusetts prep star Mawolo Gissie, for its first season in USL PRO.

The 6-foot-3 Braun’s career includes stints with Chivas USA (2008-2011), Montreal Impact (2012), Real Salt Lake (2012) and Toronto FC (2013). He has scored 24 goals in 110 regular-season matches. He played with Republic coach Preki at Chivas USA after being discovered at a USASA tournament held at Home Depot Center.

The Liberian-born Gissie had nine goals in nine games for the New England Revolution’s U-17/18s this season. He led the Revs' U-15/16s in goals (15) and assists (8) in 2011-12 and played with the Revolution reserve team in 2012. He attended Worcester Tech.

Braun and Gissie join previously signed players Rodrigo Lopez and Mickey Daly on Republic FC’s roster. Training camp opens Monday at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.

-- Orlando City signed striker Corey Hertzog for the 2014 USL PRO season. He gives Orlando a second striker to go along with Dennis Chin. Only 23, Hertzog has spent time with New York and Vancouver in MLS and was a finalist for USL PRO MVP in 2012 when he played on loan to the Wilmington Hammerheads. He scored nine goals, including a hat trick against Orlando, in 2012.
