[MLS 2014 COUNTDOWN]The Montreal Impact, MLS's most recent addition, opened its preseason campaign Sunday with a 2-1 win over Orlando City, one of MLS's 2015 expansion teams, at the Seminole Soccer Complex. New signing Santiago Gonzalez scored soon after entering the game and Andres Romero had the second goal for the Impact.
After three weeks of training at the Marie-Victorin Sports Complex, the Impact flew Friday to Orlando for the Disney Pro Soccer Classic that begins Wednesday against Brazilian club Fluminense's U-23 team featuring American Alfred Koroma (formerly of Akron and SMU).
Draft pick Eric Miller, the former U.S. U-20 out of Creighton, was the only newcomer in Frank Klopas' starting lineup against Orlando. Gonzalez came on to start the second half, playing alongside star Marco Di Vaio.
Academy players Amine Meftouh and Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare also came on to start to the second half.
