[AMERICANS ABROAD]Jozy Altidoreshould become the fourth American to play in the English League Cup final as Sunderland faces Manchester City Sunday for the Capital One Cup at Wembley (live on beIN Sports USA and beIN Sports en Espanol at 9 a.m. ET).

Of the 22 foreign-based players eligible for Wednesday's Ukraine-USA game, three play in Friday, 10 play on Saturday and eight play on Sunday. Mix Diskerud's Norwegian season with Rosenborg doesn't resume until the end of March.

On Thursday, Aron Johannsson started for AZ in its 1-1 tie with visiting Slovan Liberec that sent the Dutch club through to the final 16 of the Europa League.

MIDWEEK COPA MX ACTION.Former U.S. U-17 Alejandro Guido scored for second division Dorados in its 2-1 win over Guadalajara in Mexican Copa MX play. Paul Arriola and Stevie Rodriguez also played for Dorados, the farm team of Tijuana, where they normally play. They are allowed to play for Dorados, which advanced to the knockout stages of the Copa MX, because Tijuana is not entered in the tournament due to its participation in the Concacaf Champions League.

Other Americans involved in the Copa MX this week were Jonathan Bornstein (Atlante), Daniel Cuevas (Lobos BUAP), Gabriel Farfan (Chiapas), Sonny Guadarrama (Necaxa), Austin Guerrero (Altamira), Emanuel Guzman (Merida),Alonso Hernandez (Monterrey), Jose Torres (Tigres) and Marco Vidal (Lobos BUAP).
