[MLS 2014 COUNTDOWN] Seattle and Chivas USA concluded MLS's second intraleague loan deal as the Sounders sent forward Eriq Zavaleta to Chivas USA for the 2014 season. Per intraleague loan rules, Zavaleta cannot play against Seattle this year.

Zavaleta, 21, helped Indiana win the 2012 NCAA Division I title and left after his sophomore season to sign a Generation adidas contract. He made five appearances for Sounders in his rookie campaign in 2013. He was previously loaned to the NASL San Antonio Scorpions for a month.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Earthquakes loaned goalie David Bingham and winger Sam Garza to the Scorpions. As part of the agreement, the Earthquakes will have the option to recall either player at any point during the loan.

“This is a great opportunity for both of these young players to gain valuable experience,” said Earthquakes head coach Mark Watson. “It’s important from a player development standpoint to play in games as often as possible. Both Sam and David will get that chance with San Antonio.”

The Earthquakes will also loan a minimum of two players to Sacramento Republic FC as part of a USL-PRO affiliation agreement.

In the first intraleague loan, Tony Cascio was loaned by Colorado to Houston. Matias Laba's move from Toronto FC to Vancouver was a trade, not a transfer, though the undisclosed "future considerations" in the deal might eventually result  in the Argentine's return to TFC.
