Dempsey returns to Fulham lineup for loan finale

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Of the seven European-based field players eligible for Wednesday's Ukraine-USA game, all but Brek Shea started on Saturday. That includes Clint Dempsey, who made his first appearance for last-place English Premier League club Fulham in more than three weeks and started in its 3-1 loss at home to London rival Chelsea, which has opened up a four-lead at the top. Dempsey missed a golden opportunity with a header in the third minute in his last game before returning to the Seattle Sounders.

returned to action for the first time since Dec. 21, debuting for Turkish club Besiktas and playing 57 minutes in its 0-0 tie with visiting Antalyaspor.


Jozy Altidore
should become the fourth American to play in the English League Cup final as Sunderland faces Manchester City Sunday for the Capital One Cup at Wembley (live on beIN Sports USA and beIN Sports en Espanol at 9 a.m. ET).
