Former Duquesne University defender Becky Barritt played the full 90 -- and thensome -- in central defense as FC Honka defeated visiting MPS, 2-1, in overtime Wednesday to advance to the third round of the Finnish womenÆs cup.

Maija SaariÆs goal in the 108th minute proved decisive for Honka, which is located in Espoo. MPS, from Helsinki, took the lead in the 66th minute on Hanna PyhSjSrviÆs goal, but Kaisa Sedig pulled Honka even a minute later.

Barritt, who played 120 minutes, made her first start for Honka and her second appearance. She was a late substitute Sunday in a 1-1 tie with FC United in a league game.

The quarterfinal draw will be held following completion of the second round. HJK, KMF, SCR TiPS and FC United have qualified. Kontu is home against Ilves and FC Espoo visits LoRi in second-round matches Thursday.

In Germany, FFC Frankfurt (18-0-2) stumbled with a 0-0 tie against visiting SC 07 Bad Neuenahr (7-9-3). The Frauen-Bundesliga leaders extended their lead on FFC Turbine Potsdam (16-1-1) to seven points, but that advantage can be narrowed to a point by their season-concluding showdown on June 13.

Frankfurt and Turbine meet Saturday in the German Cup final.

Asker, with former University of Virginia and Hampton Roads Piranhas forward Darci Borski, travels to Rolvsoy for a second-round match Thursday in the NM Kvinner, NorwayÆs womenÆs cup competition. Rolvsoy plays in Division 2, the third tier of Norwegian womenÆs soccer.
