[MLS TRANSACTIONS]In need of help up front, D.C. United acquired Chris Rolfe from Chicago in exchange for allocation money. He scored 52 goals in seven-plus seasons with the Fire interrupted by a three-year stint in Denmark with Aalborg.
“Chris brings great technical ability as well as national team and European experience to our club,” D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper said in a statement. “He plays with a high soccer IQ and will give us more options in our attack. As a well-liked and respected veteran in our league, we look forward to him joining the team.”
Rolfe, 31, started the 2014 opener against Chivas USA with Mike Magee sidelined, but his two-minute appearance in the 2-2 tie at D.C. United on Saturday was his first appearance since then.
United can use help up front as its two goals against the Fire were its first in three games.
