[AMERICANS ABROAD] Zarek Valentin, the only player in a reduced U.S. contingent to play every minute of the first two games of the new Tippeligaen campaign in Norway, is out for the season after tearing his Achilles tendon in practice at promoted Bodo/Glimt.

The 22-year-old Valentin helped Bodo/Glimt, the most northern club in Norway's top league, win promotion after four years in the second level. He was playing on loan from the Montreal Impact last season, but had his contract purchased by Bodo/Glimt.

The former Generation adidas signing out of Akron played one season with Chivas USA and one with the Impact, making 40 MLS appearances with the two clubs.

Americans in Tippeligaen (2014):
180 Zarek Valentin, Bodo/Glimt
161 Michael Stephens, Stabaek
45 (1 goal) Mix Diskerud, Rosenborg
0 Josh Gatt, Molde
0 Ethan Horvath, Molde
