U.S. U-20s fall to River Plate in Super Group final

[DALLAS CUP] The U.S. under-20 national team dropped a 2-0 decision to River Plate in the final of the Gordon Jago Super Group at the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup interrupted in the second half by bad weather at the Cotton Bowl. River Plate is only the second Argentine club to win the Super Group after San Lorenzo in 1998.

The USA came back from a 2-1 deficit to beat River Plate in their opening game of group play, but it could not recover this time after Lucas Boye scored twice for the Argentine club.

The USA was without Paul Arriola, who joined Tijuana for its match at Atlante, and 16-year-old Erik Palmer-Brown, who was suspended. Kellyn Acosta began the game on the bench after starting for FC Dallas Saturday night in its MLS match. Two starters -- UCLA defender Michael Amick and Real Salt Lake rookie Jordon Allen -- went off with injuries in the first half.

Only one U.S. team has won the Super Group: Dallas Texans in 2006.

U.S. starting XI -- Steffen; Moore, Miazga, Dainkeh, Amick, Vazquez, Gooch, Allen, Gall, Rubin, Spencer.
