[THIS WEEK IN SOCCER: April 28-May 4] Seattle Sounder fans hoping to see Clint Dempsey will get to see red-hot Deuce one of the last two times before he heads off to the World Cup when the Sounders host Philadelphia on Saturday. In midweek, the UEFA Champions League semifinals conclude with the return legs in Munich and London.

TUESDAY, April 29:
Can Real Madrid hold on to its 1-0 lead over Bayern Munich in Munich and qualify for the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2002? Real Madrid promises not to sit back and will have its two attacking stars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, both available.

-- ESPN Films’ 30 for 30: Soccer Stories series continues on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET with “The Myth of Garrincha” (examining the legend of Mane Garrincha, who ranks up with Pele as the most idolized player in Brazilian history) followed by “Ceasefire Massacre” (on the death of six fans killed by a Protestant terror group in a Northern Ireland bar as they were watching the 1994 World Cup match between Ireland and Italy at Giants Stadium).

WEDNESDAY, April 29:
Chelsea got the result it wanted when it held Atletico Madrid to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal series, but the impetus will be for Chelsea to attack at home in the second leg. It found a way to overcome a 3-1 deficit to Paris St. Germain in the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge in the second leg, but Jose Mourinho's team has been all about defending, as it showed in the 2-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

SATURDAY, May 3:
Seattle fans hoping to see red-hot Clint Dempsey better get out to the match against Philadelphia as it will be one of two last times Deuce could in town until mid-July. It's the Sounders' next-to-last home game before he heads off to World Cup training. (They also face FC Dallas on May 7.) Their next MLS home game after the resumption of play from the World Cup break: July 13 against Portland -- the day of the World Cup final. Also worth watching: Columbus, first in the Eastern Conference, travels to Sporting Kansas City, one point back in a four-way logjam in second place.

Not to dispute the accuracy of the reporting here, but the Sounders play Dallas at home four days later on the 7th. When do they have to report? We would also have Brad and DeAndre going with Duece, and Oba could be headed to Nigeria. As Clint has said his success is a result of a team effort, and sports writers, especially for soccer - the ultimate team sport - would be advised to place their thoughts in this context. We have the deepest team in the league as our play will show.
