[U.S. OPEN CUP] With a 5-0 victory over Juventus Black in the NorCal-SoCal playoff at Cuesta College, Corinthians USA claimed U.S. Club Soccer’s direct qualifying berth to the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based squad is coached by former Brazilian star Palhinha and plays in the Coast Soccer League, a league that includes two other 2014 Open Cup entrants, PSA Elite and LA Misioneros, as well as Chivas USA's under-23 team.

It opens Open Cup play with a May 7 first-round match against the NPSL’s San Diego Flash at Mira Mesa High School.

This marks the second time U.S. Club Soccer has received a full slot in the competition. It is one of five organizations representing amateur teams to receive berths. The others are the PDL, NPSL, USASA and USSSA.
