[MLS: Week 9]Blown leads have cost Real Salt Lake points on three occasions this season, yet on Saturday RSL reminded everyone it hasn’t lost its own persistence and determination to come back.

Chicago, leading 2-0 at home with less than 20 minutes to play, succumbed to a furious RSL onslaught fueled by a pair of Joao Platagoals that produced a 3-2 victory and maintenance of the only unbeaten record (4-0-5) in MLS.

Plata struck in the 72nd minute and again in the third minute of stoppage time to overturn a deficit imposed by first-half goals from Mike Magee and Juan Luis Anangono. Javier Morales assisted on both Plata goals and another longtime RSL veteran, Alvaro Saborio, tied the match in the final minute of regulation time.

The defeated ended a run of six straight ties for the Fire (0-6-2), which has yet to win for new head coach Frank Yallop. Chicago is only winless team in MLS following Portland’s 3-2 defeat of D.C. United on Maximiliano Urruti's goal four minutes into stoppage time. The match featured a goal for both teams by Timbers defender Mamadou "Futty" Danso.

Seattle also took the comeback route, rallying to beat Philadelphia, 2-1, despite being stymied by Union keeper Zak MacMath’s third consecutive penalty-kick save. MacMath saved Osvaldo Alonso’s penalty kick with Philly leading, 1-0, on a Brad Evans own goal. Evans atoned by assisting on Obafemi Martins' equalizer, and Seattle won it with Chad Marshall’s first Sounders goal in the 84th minute.

Toronto FC also coughed up a lead, falling at home to New England, 2-1, despite jumping on top with a goal by Jackson in the sixth minute. Rookie Patrick Mullins powered the Revs’ comeback by scoring the tying goal when Daigo Kobayashipounced on a turnover to set him up, and then winning a penalty kick that Lee Nguyen dispatched to win the match that moved the Revs into first place.

Landon Donovan endured another match without managing to break the all-time league goalscoring record of 134 he shares with Jeff Cunningham, but much more troubling is a 1-0 loss to Colorado that featured Robbie Keane failing to convert a penalty kick. Vicente Sanchez scored for the Rapids to defeat the Galaxy, which has conceded a league-low five goals yet is no better than a .500 team at 2-2-2.
