Three newbies named for defending champion Spain

[WORLD CUP 2014] Spain, the defending World Cup champion will send out an experienced team to retain its title, yet head coach Vicente del Bosque did name three uncapped players to his preliminary squad of 30.

David de Gea, Dani Carvajal and Ander Iturraspe were named on Tuesday by Del Bosque, who will announce his final squad of 23 after Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid play the UEFA Champions League final in Lisbon May 24.  There are eight players from those clubs on the preliminary list.

De Gea replaces injured Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes as the No. 3 goalie. An Atletico Madrid quartet is led by forward Diego Costa, who has scored 36 goals this season to propel his club to the brink of a La Liga and European double. Atletico takes the league title if it ties or wins at Barcelona Saturday.

Spain will host Bolivia in Sevilla and play El Salvador in Landover, Md. before heading to the World Cup, where it will face the Netherlands, Chile and Australia
