[MLS: Week 11] With pressure mounting on Coach John Hackworth after a nine-game winless streak, the Philadelphia Union got the win it desperately needed, beating Sporting Kansas City, 2-1, on the road.

The Union was playing without Maurice Edu, who was ruled out of the game with a concussion and joined the U.S. national team in training at Stanford University. It ahead went on Danny Cruz's goal off a rebound with five minute left in the first half, and Cristian Maidana, who had done the work to set up Cruz's goal, had the winner in the 81st minute, a minute after Dom Dwyer tied the score.

AMWAY DRAMATICS. A Patrice Bernier penalty kick in the seventh minute of stoppage time gave the Montreal Impact a 4-2 win over the NASL's FC Edmonton and a 5-4 aggregate win in the Amway Canadian Championship semifinals. Frank Jonke had scored twice to give the Eddies the lead on away goals after they had fallen behind, 3-0, in the second leg.

The Vancouver Whitecaps beat Toronto, 2-1, to even their series at 3-3, but TFC was perfect in the shootout to advance to the final, 5-3. Michael Bradley played his last game for Toronto before heading off to join the U.S. national team.
