Freiburg promotes former U-20 Stanko to first team

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Former U.S. under-20 national team captain Caleb Stanko signed his first pro contract with German club Freiburg. He just finished his third season with its reserve team and made his first appearance on the bench for a Bundesliga match in March.

Stanko has made 49 Regionalliga (fourth division) appearances and scored two goals in three seasons of reserve team play for Freiburg II. Freiburg finished 14th in the 18-team Bundesliga in 2013-14.
