Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa returned from Belgrade, Serbia on Thursday full of optimism: Marijana Kovacevic, the alternative medicine specialist who treated him, said he has a good chance of being fit to play in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid. According to AS, Kovacevic told Costa that in similar cases, she’s been able to accelerate the recovery process by four or five times, and that his particular situation was not as severe as others she’d seen. She also calmed the player’s worries about missing out on the World Cup.

Kovacevic is famous for her apparent ability to treat damaged muscle in extremely short periods of time. According to the report, her treatment, which consists of a healing gel made of horse placenta coupled with electro-stimulation, is equivalent to seven hours of conventional treatment.

Despite the skepticism she’s received, AS claims that Kovacevic has successfully treated Robin van Persie and Frank Lampard in the past. It is unclear whether Costa will make Diego Simeone’s squad for Saturday’s UCL final.
