Spurs Given $11 Million for Real's UCL Win

Tottenham Hotspur, which endured a largely forgettable 6th-place finish in the Premier League last season, had reason to smile when former star forward Gareth Bale led Real Madrid to the UEFA Champions League title last Saturday, as a performance-related clause in the Welshman’s transfer means that Real will pay Spurs an additional 8 million euros ($10.9 million) on top of the 101 million euros ($137.4 million) the Spanish giant already paid for him last summer, as a result of the club winning its coveted ‘La Decima’.

Bale’s transfer certainly seems to have paid off for Real this season, as he scored 22 goals in all competitions while adding 16 assists. He also scored the winning goal in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, which Real won 2-1, in addition to the winning goal against Atletico Madrid, which Real won 4-1, in the UCL final.
