[NASL] Jacksonville Armada FC, which will begin play in the NASL in 2015, has hired Argentine Jose Luis Villarreal as its first head coach.

The 48-year-old Villarreal, whose playing career included stints at clubs in Argentina, Spain, France and Mexico and eight appearances for Argentina, most recently worked as the assistant coach at Chile's Colo Colo.

“José Luis has everything we are looking for in a head coach -- passion, determination, playing experience, strong international connections and leadership,” said Armada FC general manager Dario Sala of his fellow Argentine. “But most importantly, he has a desire to be in Jacksonville, grow our local talent and be a part of our community. On the field, he will help set the Armada FC apart with his style of coaching and play. His aggressive, attack-style approach is not seen in the U.S. right now and will be a new dynamic for the NASL.”
