"We're in a different culture. I embrace it. I know it's an honor for them to be on a national team, and it's a huge honor for me to represent the United States culinary-wise.''

-- U.S. national team chef Brent Billapando, who survived the Aurora, Colo., theater midnight shooting two years. Billapando, who turned 31 on Thursday, was with his then-wife Toni, who was pregnant with their second child at the time and got struck by fragments. He said the timing of the World Cup ''couldn't have been any better.'' (AP)
