Richmond and Wilmington put streaks on line

[USL PRO: Week 13] The Wilmington Hammerheads visit the Richmond Kickers Saturday night in a meeting of two of USL PRO's hottest teams. Richmond is riding a 12-game unbeaten streak, while the Hammerheads are unbeaten in six.

Both teams have lost only one game. Joe Willis, on loan from D.C. United, tallied his league-leading fifth shutout in the Kickers' 1-0 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders to extend their unbeaten streak. The Hammerheads are coming off a 2-2 draw against the OKC Energy last weekend.

Richmond's George Davis and Matthew Delicate are tied for fourth in USL with seven goals, while former MLS and Liga MX forward Sammy Ochoa leads Wilmington with four goals.

“Going to Richmond is always a tough game,” said Hammerheads coach David Irving. “They are off to good start, as are we. This will be our first match playing a team currently ranked in the top four of our league.”

WEDNESDAY. Defending champion Orlando City tied its club record when its 4-1 win over the Orange County Blues extended its streak of consecutive matches without a loss to 14.

After conceding late in the first half, Orlando City scored four unanswered goals to improve to 11-0-3 thanks to goals by Corey Hertzog and Austin da Luz and two late goals by Brad Rusin.
