Meet John Brooks: 'I love this jersey'

[VIDEO PICK: Profile] John Brooks, the 21-year-old defender who scored the gamewinner in the USA's 2-1 victory over Ghana, shares photos of his mom, sister, half-brother and his dog in this 1-minute video by U.S. Soccer.

"My mom is the most important person in my life," says Brooks. "We had a lot of hard times, but she's the best. I love her …"

Brooks was born in Germany to an American father and raised in Germany. He made appearances with the USA's U-20 and U-23 teams and debuted for the full national team in 2013.

When he took the field for the second half of the USA's World Cup opener, it marked his first competitive game in a U.S. jersey.

"It's an honor to wear this jersey," he says. "I love this jersey and want to wear it as many times as possible."

    Anyone who questions these guys motivation should watch all of these videos. Its not where you born its whats in your heart. America is idea and place not a race.
