Brooks was born in Germany to an American father and raised in Germany. He made appearances with the USA's U-20 and U-23 teams and debuted for the full national team in 2013.
When he took the field for the second half of the USA's World Cup opener, it marked his first competitive game in a U.S. jersey.
"It's an honor to wear this jersey,"
he says. "I love this jersey and want to wear it as many times as possible."
