The Ghanaian soccer federation (GFA) on Monday asked police to investigate allegations of game-fixing reported on Sunday by the Daily Telegraph/Channel 4 claiming that a Obed Kketiah, aGhanaian official and Chrstopher Forsythe, a FIFA official, colluded on attempting to fix games involving the national team. Per the report, no Ghanaian squad members were involved, nor wereany World Cup matches affected.
In a statement, the GFA denied that the two men in question were close to buying the rights to Ghana’s friendlies. “We wish to state that the GFAdid not sign the contract as we waited for the response from the legal committee and that the two gentlemen did not make such corrupt offers to the GFA or its officials.”
The issue hassince been referred to FIFA and the continental governing body, CAF, and the country’s national police force has been asked to begin an investigation.
