[U.S. OPEN CUP] For the third year in a row, the NASL's Carolina RailHawks have eliminated the LA Galaxy from the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, winning, 1-0, on Daniel Jackson's breakaway in overtime to advance to the quarterfinals.

The Galaxy started Robbie Keane, and Landon Donovan played the last 64 minutes, so this was not a second-string squad it brought to Cary.

The Galaxy won the tournament in 2001 and 2005 while reaching the final on two other occasions. It has lost to non-MLS competition five times in the history of the tournament.

-- Sebastien Le Toux's second goal of the game, from the penalty spot, in the 115th minute gave the Philadelphia Union a 2-1 win over the New York Cosmos, who had beaten the New York Red Bulls in the fourth round.
