[MLS ALL-STAR GAME] Eight U.S. World Cup players joined forwards Landon Donovan, Thierry Henry and Obafemi Martins as the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Fan XI for the Aug. 6 match against German champion Bayern Munich at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. The 20-player MLS All-Star squad, as picked by All-Star coach Caleb Porter, will be announced during halftime of Saturday's ESPN2 broadcast of the Sporting Kansas City-LA Galaxy game.

U.S. men’s national team captain Clint Dempsey is one of three Seattle Sounders on the team along with DeAndre Yedlin and Martins. Two players each from the LA Galaxy (Omar Gonzalez and Donovan), Sporting Kansas City (Graham Zusi and Matt Besler) and Real Salt Lake (Nick Rimando and Kyle Beckerman) were picked. Michael Bradley (Toronto FC) and Henry round out the team.

The Fan XI consisted of the players who received the most votes at their respective positions from combined fan voting online at MLSsoccer.com and via Twitter. Martins earned his place on the Fan XI as the AT&T/EA Sports “More than a Vote” Challenge winner. Fans scored more than one million goals with Martins in FIFA 14.

The All-Star Game will be televised live on ESPN2 and UniMas starting at 9:30 p.m. ET.

LANDO.... I've always wondered why he never got the nickname "LANDO" - good swashbuckling fellow from Star Wars... LANDO would have been a nice household name, one that fit on the back of his shirt, a one-name guy... like Pele, Xavi, Ibra, etc...

Time to play a real all-star game. The best eleven eligible to play for US in WC, vs the best eleven of the rest. Would be a real match. And the winner is not predictable.

Glad the the Portland fans will get a look at some of the current and future FC Bayern fans, up close and live. Good. Have to show them how to chainsaw some timber. I hope that guy is there to do that. The German Bundesliga doesn't have anything like that. (They probably outlaw chainsaws for the normal homeowner. I'm not really joking. The Germans are very sissified.) The guy should chainsaw a few, hopefully, more than just a few goals will fall in the match. And then hand one cut/slice to Pep Guardiola immediately after so that it surely gets on camera for the German fans watching 9 time zones away.
