[INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES] Sporting Kansas City lost for the first time in four games against English Premier League clubs when the MLS champion dropped a 4-1 decision to English champion Manchester City. In other EPL-MLS matchups, Tottenham held off Toronto FC, 3-2, and Aston Villa beat FC Dallas, 2-0, while the Columbus Crew tied Crystal Palace, 2-2.

C.J. Sapong canceled out Argentine Bruno Zuculini's early goal for Manchester City, but Dedryck Boyatascored right before the end of the half to give City the lead it never relinquished.  Late goals by Aleksandar Kolarov and Nigerian teenager Kelechi Ihenacho sealed the win.

Tottenham beat Toronto FC, 3-2, on Andros Townsend's goal in the 85th minute. Toronto had come back from 2-0 down to tie the score on goals by Andrew Wiedeman and Homegrown signing Jordan Hamilton, recalled from the Wilmington Hammerheads, where he has been playing on loan since May.

Daniel Paladini's tying goal in the 80th held up to earn the Crew a draw with Aston Villa.

Marco Borriello's goal in the 90th minute gave Roma 1-0 win over Liverpool in front of a sellout crowd at Boston's Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox, the Reds' sister club.

-- Bayern Munich confirmed that its German World Cup champions, along with Arjen Robben of the Netherlands and Dante of Brazil will join the squad in Portland for the AT&T MLS All-Star Game on Aug. 6 but will not be with the team for the match against Guadalajara six days earlier at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.

-- Teenager Gideon Zelalem, who was raised in Maryland, was included in the Arsenal squad for the Gunners' match at New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.
