A perfect start -- scoring 4 seconds after kickoff
[VIDEO PICK: Golazo] In May, Mexican club Club Deportivo Estudiantes Tecos de la UAG moved from Guadalajara to Zacatecas and became Mineros de Zacatecas. In their
first home game, the Miners scored four seconds after kickoff.
UAG Tecos -- the Owls -- was founded in 1935 and won a Mexican title in 1994.
The club’s coaches have
included former USA coach Bora Milutinovic, Mexico’s 2014 World Cup coach Miguel Herrera, and Cesar Luis Menotti, who guided Argentina to the
1978 World Cup title.
But Tecos fell on hard times, were relegated to the second division, and this year became Mineros de Zacatecas.
The new era started off as well as
possible with this goal by Paraguayan Gustavo Ramirez -- the first in a 2-0 win over Necaxa -- during its first game in its new stadium, Estadio Francisco Villa.
