Corona scores in Tijuana's Copa MX win

[AMERICANS ABROAD] U.S. international Joe Corona scored the winner for Tijuana in its 3-1 win over Torneo Ascenso (second division) Zacatepec to open the  Copa MX, Mexico's midweek cup competition. Texan Uvaldo Luna, who played in Mexico's under-20 national team, scored for defending champion Tigres in its 4-0 win over Altamira before more than 35,000 fans.

-- Former U.S. under-20 national team forward Daniel Cuevas started for Torneo Ascenso (second division) Lobos BUAP in its 4-2 win over Liga MX club Chiapas. Gabriel Farfan went the distance for Chiapas.

Cuevas moved on loan from Santos to Lobos BUAP last winter but has not yet played a league game for the club based in Puebla.
