[OBITUARY]Leo Stillitano, the president and general manager of MLS's Miami Fusion for its launch in 1998, passed away at his home in Weehawken, New Jersey, on Saturday at the age of 55. Stillitano, an All-Ivy player at Columbia, had worked for the 1994 World Cup organizing committee, in MLS and at ChampionsWorld with his brother Charlie, who is now CEO of Relevent Sports, the promoter of the Guinness International Champions Cup.
Following his work with Major League Soccer, Stillitano joined ISI/SFX where he was a sports marketing executive focusing on Latin America. He later went on to act as managing director for Clear Channel Latin America.
After ChampionsWorld, where he served as the executive vice president of marketing and helped develop the Champions World Series, he developed hospitality programs for clients at major sporting events with the company he founded in 2011, RedCarpet360.
Leandro was predeceased by his father, Charlie, and is survived by his son, Alec, his former wife, Joan Alito, his mother, Tina, and brother Charlie.
