FC Dallas and RSL consider plans for second teams

[USL PRO] FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake are weighing their options about entering teams in USL PRO. In the case of Dallas, it could be an affiliation with one of the two teams starting up in 2015 in the Southwest and then its own team in 2016. As for RSL, it might enter its own second team in USL PRO as soon as 2015.

FC Dallas president Dan Hunt told the Dallas Morning News this week that the club will announce its plans in the next 30-60 days -- they could include affiliating with either Austin or Tulsa -- and the team would need to be close by so the Dallas coaches could conveniently get to games.

RSL is looking at entering its own second team in USL PRO as soon as 2015 with the idea that a stadium for the team would then be built at the Salt Lake City Fairpark for 2016. In the short term, the RSL plans would include playing at Rio Tinto Stadium, where its reserve team has drawn well. RSL plans were confirmed to on Wednesday.

Jose Cuevas, who returned to Charleston after the PDL season in Fresno, had a goal and assists on both Dane Kelly goals to lead the Battery to a 3-2 victory over the Orange County Blues on Wednesday night in front of 2,988 fans at Blackbaud Stadium.
