Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis unexpectedly quit on Thursday evening following talks with co-chairman Steve Parrish in London. According to reports, the former Stoke City boss was upset over the club’s transfer dealings this summer. Pulis’ exit means Palace will be manager-less for its first Premier League game of the season at Arsenal on Saturday; Keith Millenis expected to take charge until the club names a new head coach.

While Palace brought in Martin Kelly from Liverpool, Brede Hangeland from Fulham and Frazier Campbell from Cardiff City, the Daily Mail claims Pulis’ decision came after Parrish refused to support bids for Michu, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Steven Caulker.

Losing Pulis could be a devastating blow for Palace given how he transformed the club’s fortunes when he replaced Ian Holloway last fall, catapulting Palace from bottom of the standings to an 11th-place finish last season.
