[AMERICANS ABROAD] Aron Johannsson will be sidelined until October after undergoing his second groin surgery in three years on Friday. Johannsson, whose only appearance at the World Cup came in the opener against Ghana, had undergone surgery in July to repair his ankle, which had bothered him at the end of the 2013-14 Dutch Eredivisie season with AZ.

The 23-year-old Johannsson also had groin surgery in 2012 when he was playing for AGF Aarhus in Denmark.

He led AZ with 17 league goals and led all Americans abroad with 26 goals in all competitions.

Without the Icelandic-American, AZ split its first two games of the 2014-15 season, beating Heracles, 3-0, away and falling at home to defending champion Ajax, 3-1.
